The upgrade option lets players boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a single unit. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is usually beneficial however, it could have negative effects as well. Upgrades can render items inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their effectiveness. In the case of a helm or chest, it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain after upgrading along with the values of these stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will strike 3 times less often as it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that are circling. This will reroll the item and alter its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few tweaks to your armor can make a an enormous difference in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the greater health you will get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the fountain that corresponds, you can then talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in cold environments with a lot of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to focus on upgrading it for physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. Potions

Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, give the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with specific effects and durations. A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an ornament or object that serves a purpose, but isn't important such as a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.

Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets like other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing statistics.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

When deciding which items to upgrade players should also be aware of the preferred statistics of their class. Once they have become useless trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
